  • Intel Research Seattle Open House

Open House at Intel Research Seattle Lab

    Wednesday October 1st 2008, from 3:00 - 6:00pm

We invite you to visit and meet some of Intel's top researchers when Intel Research Seattle holds its annual open house on the 1st of October from 3
to 6 pm. The lab is located on the 6th floor of 1100 NE 45th St, Seattle, three blocks from the main University of Washington campus. The open house will include posters and demonstrations of key research projects, opportunities to meet researchers, students and faculty, and refreshments.

Founded in 2001, Intel Research Seattle is an exploratory research lab in the Intel Research network of labs. We develop future computing systems that are woven into the fabric of everyday life – moving computing beyond the desktop and into the real world. To drive this agenda, we form interdisciplinary projects, we create prototypes of novel devices and systems, and we hold a user-centered viewpoint. Our lab is based on an innovative model of industry-university research that includes a deep collaborative relationship with the nearby University of Washington as well as partner institutions like Carnegie Mellon University and the University of California at Berkeley. Our research staff is recognized as leaders in sensing and wireless devices, mobile networks and systems, machine learning, and human-computer interaction.

In 2007-2008, IRS researchers have worked on topics that include: sensing, vision and perception in everyday settings; mobile devices that preserve user privacy; personal robotics in unstructured environments; applications of inferred context; technology for the long-term care of elders; wirelessly powering devices; and materials for organic photovoltaics. This year’s open house will display these projects and more.

We look forward to welcoming you in October!
